This is a remedial therapy that is applied by the therapist applying gentle pressure to soft tissue with fingers and thumbs. There is no deep tissue work or high velocity thrust movements as in chiropractice and there is no massaging of areas, so therefore no friction. The therapist makes rolling type movements over the body with their thumb and fingers. The aim is to mobilise the energies, muscles and soft tissue within the body. It has become well known for its success in healing bad backs, but is highly effective in the treatments of colic in children, frozen shoulders, arthritis, chronic fatigue and hay fever.
In the Naturopathic Centre for Children, it is used consistently with children from the Autistic and ASD spectrum.
